Work As Worship: Created to Flourish

DAY 2 OF 3

What do brushing your teeth and skydiving have in common?

One is so routine that you might be trying to remember whether you did it or not today, while the other may be an item off your all-time bucket list.

What these two activities share (along with everything that you think, say, and do today) is that they are an opportunity to worship.

This isn't the kind of worship that has you singing through the toothpaste bubbles or shouting out a chorus as your plummet to the earth (although either is possible) but the kind of worship that is the foundation of everything you do.

We tend to separate our "normal" life and our "God" life, but today's verse from Colossians is a reminder that the most familiar activities to the most thrilling adventures on your schedule can be a chance to thank God.

Your work, from mowing lawns and flipping burgers to arguing before the Supreme Court and coding the next viral game, is a chance for you to reflect God's character.

Will you make it a point to say something encouraging to the unpopular kid during break?

That's God's heart for the outcast and forgotten.

Will you suggest a more efficient and easier way to get the job done?

That's God's creativity and wisdom.

Will you not be satisfied with "good enough" and put in the extra effort to achieve "great"?

That's God's call to excellence.

  • Why is God interested in every aspect of your life?
  • What connection is there between your skill and God?
