A number of years ago I was walking through street markets overseas. Each stall had their own version of an ‘authentic Rolex watch’ and each stall owner would provide a sales pitch that would make even the best daytime TV salesman proud. However, the reality was, the Rolex watches these salesmen were attempting to sell were anything but authentic. Even the logo text was written ‘Rolecks’.

Humans love a bargain. If something is cheaper or easier, it is incredibly attractive. But often, if you look a bit closer, the quality or the origin may not compare to the real thing.

When Paul is saying “the gospel I preached is not of human origin” he is saying that this isn’t a man-made message, but rather he “received it by revelation”, it truly is a supernatural message.

The gospel message isn’t man’s attempt to reach up and understand God, but instead, it is God’s message to come down and communicate with man by revealing Jesus to us.

The amazing reality of a relationship with Jesus is that we can receive revelation from him and He wants to have relationship with us.
