Ephesians: How to Love Like Jesusنموونە
Devotional:
When a student aces a maths test, how often does the teacher receive any credit for educating them? How easy is it for us to take pride in our achievements while forgetting those that helped us get there? For the second time in Ephesians, we see Paul praying. His prayer is again outwards-facing, praying for the church of Ephesus and their walk with God.
In Ephesians 1, Paul prayed with thankfulness and asked that the Ephesians would be enlightened and know the riches of God’s glory. In this passage, Paul prays that God’s power would be given to the Ephesians. He prays that Jesus would dwell in their hearts. And he prays that they would root themselves in the love of Christ. But Paul ends by proclaiming that as they live into the fullness of God, all glory must go to Jesus. For all we can achieve, it is only made possible through the love of Jesus.
Questions:
- Do you feel God’s power? Do you feel rooted in love? How can you pursue God and know His love that surpasses all knowledge? How can you take comfort in the words of Romans 8:37-39?
- How often do you acknowledge God? How often do you bring Him glory and give Him the credit for your achievements? Based on this passage, how can you bring Him glory in the future?
- Who is someone who has strengthened you in your journey of faith? How can you share with them the impact they have had in your life? How can you acknowledge God’s impact in your relationship?
Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for dwelling in my heart. Thank you that You have chosen to love a sinner like me and share Your great power through Your Spirit. Help me to acknowledge You and remember Your goodness each day. Help me bring glory to You. Amen.
