Boundary Breaker

DAY 2 OF 3

APPLYING GOD’S WILL

It’s easier said than done to truly lean on God and not our own understanding. Even Peter actually debated with God three times upon the revelation God spoke that the message of the Gospel was for all mankind, not just the Jews. You see, up until this vision on the roof, Peter and many others thought God’s word was just for the Jews. God shook up Peter’s understanding by delivering a word that was the exact opposite of what Peter thought was the way. After God revealed this to Peter, he still disagreed even when God spoke this truth directly to him.

Have you ever been presented a revelation from God but still rejected it, even when you know in your heart that God was telling you something critical? You see, we fall back to the comfort of what we know and hesitate to embrace the things we don’t. It’s much easier to stay safe in the boundaries of where we’ve been, rather than face a new challenge that God has placed on the other side of our spiritual boundary line.

I had a conversation with my wife, Michelle, recently. I was saying how if I could go back and change a lot of things about my ideals and thoughts I had growing up, I would have probably done things differently. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t regret my past, that is what got me to where I am. My understanding on things did change though, over time, as I grew in my walk with Christ. Things I was set on, that I said would never change, I find myself thinking about and handling differently today. As we increase our dependency on God, He continually increases our understanding in that we are not self-sufficient but completely and without question in need of His love and wisdom in our lives.

About this Plan

Boundary Breaker

We have learned to stay safe in how we live our lives. Within the confines of our comfort, we often remain. The danger in the unknown is troubling to us. How will we handle change, perhaps for the better? Join Pastor Jeff Gwaltney as he takes a look at how God wants us to extend past the boundaries of our own understanding by fully leaning on Him.
