3 Things to Remember When You Feel Defeatedنموونە
He Found Confidence
Last year our daughter’s varsity track team won pretty much every award possible in one of the most challenging areas of the country. As a team, they did extremely well. The day after the end of the season, we were really looking forward to sleeping in and taking a break from the early morning practice times. But the coach had other ideas. Yes, they experienced all those victories, but he was interested in more. We started right back to practices the very next day.
We see something similar in our example in Scripture. After the victory between the horde and King Asa, God was not finished with the king. What we learn from this next interaction with King Asa, is that God is not just interested in climactic moments, the near misses, or taking the victory laps. He is connected with the person rather than one stand-alone event in the life of the person.
Immediately following the triumph, God sends an obscure encourager who was moved by the Holy Spirit to speak a word into the life of this man, Asa. This message was hope-filled, spurring the king on to seek the Lord. It came with a warning for not seeking Him, which we cannot skip over.
To demonstrate this point, this Nobody from Nowhere, gave King Asa a rundown of all the ways the kings before him have blown it by not seeking and relying on God, and how not to be like them. This encounter sets such a fire under King Asa that he does exactly that, setting in motion a series of actions and attitudes previously unseen by the king.
The same can occur in your life, for there is still more with God to be experienced. I don’t know what you are embarking upon, but the message for today is simple. Take courage. Don’t slack off. He is not finished using you. Find confidence in this truth. There is still a good amount you are needed to do. Your labor is not in vain and is meaningful to the One that really matters.
I pray this encounter with the very words of God sets a fire under you to strengthen your hands and emboldens your soul to move on to the next step for the furthering of the Gospel. For your work, too, shall be rewarded.

About this Plan
Do you ever feel so deflated, you’d rather disappear under the covers, wearing loungewear than practically anything? Maybe the relationship went south, or the promotion was granted to someone else. Things aren’t working out as planned. Such despondency is not the life for a Jesus follower. How do we move past our defeating thoughts? Cheri Strange gives us three things to remember when we find ourselves in this familiar territory.
