The Heart of Transformationنموونە
The HEART work of transformation is hard work. In a season where things are being brought to light and we are being called as a culture to racial reconciliation, we can’t simply rely on a behavior change. Instead, we require the work of heart transformation. Your church or culture can tell you what to do, and you can conform to new behavior, but transformation is actually an internal work that’s needed to change our hearts and our mindsets. Two great Bible characters who illustrate this difference, are Jonah and David. Through this devotional we will look at two of their prayers to see what we can learn from their journeys.
The temptation when faced with sin, of any kind, but especially racism is behavior modification. Jesus is not concerned with behavior modification but the heart work of transformation. Through Jonah and David’s journeys, we see great examples of what behavior modification looks like compared with heart transformation. Changing our hearts requires more than just action, it requires complete transformation.
Questions:
1. Think of a time when you changed your behavior only to see that behavior return. What behavior did you try to change? What mindset or heart attitude was attached to that behavior?
