How To Trust In Jesus
If you’re reading this, it probably means you have some questions about faith. Having a relationship with Jesus may sound strange to you. Maybe even impossible. That’s okay!
Here are a few things you should know.
When God created the world and everything in it, it was good. Like, 100-percent-all-the-way good. Then the first humans God created (Adam and Even) sinned. They broke the one rule God had given them. When they broke that rule, things weren’t 100-percent-all-the-way good anymore.
Sin is the stuff we do that’s wrong. Everyone has sinned. Even our parents and teachers sin!
The problem with sin is that it separates us from God.
Have you ever been in the dark before? If you can, go to a room without windows. Maybe a bathroom or closet. Shut the door and turn off the light. Count to ten (or twenty if you’re feeling extra brave!) and then come back out.
THINK ABOUT IT
- What did it feel like to be in the dark?
- What’s one thing you wish you had when you’re in the dark (besides a snack!)?
When we’re separated from God by our sin, it’s like being in the dark. But when we’re in God’s family, we have the brightest light ever: Jesus! He helps us face our problems and fears with confidence and focus.
So, how do we get rid of our sin and become part of God’s family? Well, we can’t do anything about our sin because we’re humans. But God loves us so much He created a way to save us.
God sent His Son, Jesus, to live on Earth. Jesus came to take the punishment for our sin by letting Himself be nailed to a cross, where He died. Three days later, He rose from the dead, proving He is God’s Son! Then He went back to heaven to live with God forever.
When we tell Jesus we believe He’s God’s Son and ask Him to forgive our sin, He will. And we get to be in God’s family—now, and later in heaven. We move from living in darkness to living in the light!
Have you made the choice to believe in Jesus and all He did for you? If not, talk to someone you trust, like a parent or a small group leader. Ask what it means to have a relationship with Jesus. Then, tell them you’re ready to have a faith of your own.

About this Plan
Having faith means trusting in what you can’t see because of what you can see. That’s hard. How can we know God is real? Can we trust Him when bad or scary things happen? What about when we do bad things? Will He forgive us? Through this Bible Plan, we’ll take a closer look at what it means to put our faith in Jesus (and how it makes life better).
