Seeking Godly Wisdom Amidst the Unknownنموونە
Solomon is writing this proverb to prepare his son for the decisions he will soon be making on his own. It can be so easy for us to turn to the limitless resources at our fingertips for insight, but still lack wisdom at the end of the day if we have not consulted the Lord and filled our hearts with his Word.
We must have open hearts to hear God and soak in the wisdom that comes from him alone. The goal of wisdom is to become more like Christ. Proverbs tells us that the knowledge of God will be a delight to us. It is a delight that godly wisdom is pure and something we can cling to despite difficult decisions that we have to make.
Solomon also instructs his son to store up his commands so that they may direct his heart to understand his ways. We cannot know how to be wise without knowing God. We are called to know his Word and store it up in our hearts so that we may understand our ways.
