Certainty Amid Uncertainty نموونە
Jesus Is My Ever-Present Help
Every day, we make choices. We choose how we will face everything that comes our way. Some people decide to focus on the negative aspects of their life, while others see their difficulties as challenges for growth.
Usually, those who tend to be negative in uncertain times, like the one we are facing now, whine and complain—not realizing that they are wasting their time and energy on an unproductive activity. A careful look at the book of Numbers will allow you to see how the people of Israel lost their inheritance. They did not trust in God even after seeing all the miracles that God did to deliver them from the hand of Pharaoh (Numbers 14:22–23.) They chose to see their difficulties (lack of water, food, giants in the promised land) as a reason to complain.
Whining and complaining is precisely the opposite direction of worship. They create an unhealthy atmosphere that leads to a dead end. When we worship, we focus on God and on His power and ability to show us His glory and help.
Joshua and Caleb had a different spirit. When they saw the giants that lived in the land that God promised as an inheritance, they declared, “... the Lord is with us. Do not fear them” (Numbers 14:9 NKJV).
As we have seen through Psalm 46, the psalmist chooses to take refuge in God instead of focusing on fear. In times of trouble, he declares, “God is a very present help.” Are you experiencing loneliness due to the forced isolation through the coronavirus pandemic? Remind yourself of this truth: the Holy Spirit is right there by your side. Do not fear; He will help you get through this.
Worship Him, and you will see His glory and power move in your life. Complain and whine, and you will waste your energy on an unfruitful activity that will steal your peace and joy, which is your inheritance as a child of God. Ask God to help you, and He will fill you up with joy in His presence (Psalm 16:11). That is the way of life. Walk with hope and thanksgiving!
Declare
Jesus is my Rock, my Refuge, Strength, an ever-present Help. I declare that I will come out of this time stronger and full of the Holy Spirit’s presence.
