Instead of Fear: What God Gives You When You Let Go of Fearنموونە
Conclusion: Fear is Not Forever
The first time you watch a movie, you don’t know the outcome.
If it’s a scary or suspenseful movie, it can be really hard to watch as your feelings bounce back and forth between fear and relief. But the second time you watch that movie, with the ending in mind, it’s not so scary.
Fear is often most powerful in the unknowns. Where will this lead me? Will this hurt? How will this end?
The amazing thing about this life is that, if you’ve read Genesis and Revelation, you know the beginning and the end are more than points on a timeline. The beginning and the end represent the person of Jesus Christ—the Alpha and the Omega, the author and finisher of your faith.
For those who don’t know Jesus, death is the ultimate fear. But in stark contrast, the death of Jesus and the eternal hope His resurrection brings is the very thing that can take away the believer’s fear: “For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18, ESV).
There are real things in this life that can hurt and even kill. But even that exchange is worth it for what you get: “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21, NIV).
Knowing that God wins this saga and that eternity with Him awaits you is your ultimate weapon against fear. The next time you feel fearful about your life, challenge yourself to declare Who holds you in His hands, Who saved you from death itself, and where He promises you will go.
Instead of fear, pick up all the things God has for you in this life and the next.
Things to Ponder:
- What is your greatest fear or worry? Poverty? Illness? Loneliness? Look up what God’s Word says about that topic.
- What fear do you need to put down? What promise from Scripture do you need to pick up?

About this Plan
Over and over in Scripture, God says “don’t be afraid.” But He’s not being trite, saying “just stop being afraid” and leaving you to figure out how or why. Each time, He offers something empowering. Discover what God wants to give you in exchange for your fear to help you move forward through difficulties, overcome despair and step into His plans with confidence.
