Real Hope: Suffering & Trialsنموونە
TEARS IN A BOTTLE
There are times in life where we are stunned by life’s circumstances. The death of a loved one, a young child, experience heartbreaking catastrophes … and we find ourselves crying a sea of tears.
Let me assure you that the God whose watchful eyes are aware when a sparrow falls to the ground and who knows the exact number of hairs on our heads has not turned His back on you.
King David wrote these words, ‘You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book’ (Psalm 56:8). David wrote this psalm when he was a prisoner of war, and he had reason to cry.
Have you ever thought, ‘No one on this earth understands the depth of my suffering’? Let me encourage you – God is paying attention. He does care and will intervene in your life if you ask Him to. God knows each of His children intimately, and every tear we shed has meaning to Him. God remembers our sorrow as if He kept each tear in a bottle. David trusted in God, that He would remember his pain and tears and would not forget about him.
When we begin to grasp the depth of that truth, we can say with confidence just as David did in the midst of it all, This I know: God is on my side! (Psalm 56:9).
