“Renewed through Worship”
We are designed to be addicted to God. Our brains are wired to latch onto something, and that something is God. – Dr. Caroline Leaf
If we’re honest, it doesn’t seem at all that our brains are latching on to God. With all the distractions and things that we worry about, it’s so easy to lose focus and latch on to something else. What we think about affects how we act, what we choose and even who we are. That could explain why many verses talk about meditating on things that are true, pure, and lovely.
Worship is the easiest way for us to refocus our thoughts and our lives on Jesus. The very essence of worship is to have all attention and all focus on the King. If we are focused on Him we are focusing on the One who is Pure, True, and Lovely. When that happens our mind is renewed and with a new way of thinking, and new way of approaching things, thinking and approaching it with a “God perspective,” we will live our lives differently. We will live a transformed life because we have a renewed mind. A renewed mind that is latched onto God and thinks and views everything in the light of His glory and grace. Many have experienced the truth expressed in a Hymn “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.” (Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus by Helen H. Lemmel, 1922)
Think about it:
What do you think about the most?
Do your thoughts about you and about others line up with God’s thoughts?
