HOPE OF THINGS TO COME: The guarantee of a future where relationship and all of creation is restored.
Jesus’ story guarantees our hope for a future; He has rewritten the story of restoration. At the end of the story, He will be with us in person again and all of creation will be renewed!
However, we are not yet at the end of the story. Jesus said in John 16:33 that we will have trouble. But take heart! He has overcome the world. Today, we live in the tension between seeing amazing things happen as heaven touches Earth, but also sharing the pain of those who are in need. We experience loss, but we need not lose hope.
History has proven that we can overcome trouble with God's help. Humanity has come through devastation, destruction, evil, and heartache. Along with God’s help, we now know that we are not alone, we have adapted to changing landscapes. God’s love for us speaks to fear, creating courage, and releasing hope!
One day there will be no more trouble. The end of God’s restoration story, like the promise of Jesus, has been promised from the very beginning in Genesis. And it is described in the last book of the Bible, Revelation.
Revelation reveals a future of wholeness and well-being with the renewal of all creation. Chapter 21 lists eighteen different things we can hope for as God promises things like no more chaos, death, pain or suffering, an absence of any source of evil, and God constantly being with us in person again. This is what we hope for, and we can choose to flourish forever in a place of belonging where the relationship with God and others is restored.
One of the aims of The Infographic Bible was to reveal God’s restoration story; the centerpiece of which reveals a rainbow, which visualizes all of God’s kept promises about Jesus. We also visualize God’s promises in Revelation 21: our hope for the end of the story. Find out more and download free products related to this reading plan at www.theinfographicbible.com
Remember, our current reality is not our identity or the end of the story! We have hope because Jesus, the promise keeper, guaranteed a future where all of creation is renewed. Love wins!
An invitation to interact with God in meditation and visualization:
Perhaps read the Bible verses again, inviting His love and hope into your heart as you meditate on God’s promises still to come in Revelation 21, giving thanks that He can be trusted to keep them.
As part of your interaction, you may want to tell The Helper about any troubles you have: He loves to bring comfort and strength.
Perhaps visualize your chat with words, images, or music!
Enjoy!
