Ascension Day

DAY 10 OF 11

Blessings for You

He really is leaving. In what way must it have happened? No idea? Luke states that Christ was carried up into heaven. How exactly? Up on a small elevator into the clouds? Well, that is probably not the point. Leaving, not to be here anymore, but being in heaven instead, is probably what is most important. The last glimpse His disciples get of Him is striking: "While He was blessing them, He left them, and was taken up to heaven.” (Luke 24:51). The last thing they see of Him, is a blessing. It is the last glimpse which is stamped on their memory forever.

Then He was gone. No longer here. Since then, He has received another place. Ephesians states that mighty powers were working, when the new King took His seat of honour:

This power he exercised in Christ, when He raised him from death and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms, far above every rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. (Ephesians 1:20-21)

You cannot imagine a more exceptional place, than the place at the right hand of the Almighty. And all things have been put under His feet. Everything is under His authority. The blessing is still for us from this place.
