Moving Beyond Fearنموونە
Fear has been around since the beginning.
God saw all that He created and called it very good. And so it was. But then horror-struck. Man fell prey to temptation and into sin. He rebelled against his maker, his loving provider, and his Lord. Doubting His goodness and desiring for himself that which God had forbidden, he disobeyed God’s command, bringing death to his soul.
In love, God created Adam and Eve for His pleasure, His glory, and their enjoyment. He established mankind’s rule and dominion over all the creatures of the earth. He placed them in the Garden of Eden and explained that they could eat of any tree in the garden except one.
There they were in the midst of a beautiful garden, with every need provided for, in intimate companionship with God and one another, and yet they came to desire—they began to fear that they would not have. They came to believe that God had withheld good from them.
Through the deception of the enemy, they desired that which was not theirs. Entertaining the serpent’s lies, and doubting God’s faithfulness, they chose to take for themselves that which was not theirs for the taking.
Ultimately they acted in selfishness and unbelief. Fearing they would be left without, not believing God and His love, they broke their intimate fellowship with Him. Turning against God, they became His enemies.
Sin entered the world and fear along with it. And nothing has ever been the same.
Life will have troubles and difficulties because we live in a sinful world. We will always be confronted with fear. We have a formidable foe. And then there is always Satan. He will wield his weapon of fear any chance he gets.
We overcome fear in Christ!
Christ has overcome sin, death, and fear! It is in Him that we are able to overcome as well. Because of Christ, we can live free knowing that the light of Christ overcomes the darkness without and within.
We want to know how to conquer fear. We want to be ready for it. The reality of the situation is that it isn’t “if” you will have to face fear; it is merely a matter of when.
We choose to remember Christ—remember that He lives and that He lives in us each and every moment of each and every day. We say no to fear and yes to Christ and make it our aim to live through Him, for Him and because of Him. No more giving into fear. No more falling prey to unbelief.
