Gregg Matte - 5 Steps to Take During a Stormنموونە
This Too Shall Pass
This passage where Jesus walked on water concludes with, “When they got into the boat, the wind ceased.” The last step we can apply from this story is that this too shall pass.
Whatever you’re going through, it too shall pass. Feelings pass. Things come and go. Remember what you were worried about last January on this exact date? No, you probably don’t, not unless it was something major that happened in your life.
Life can be compared to moving clouds, don’t you think? Some clouds come through, and they are dark. Others are wonderful, big, puffy clouds. Clouds are always moving due to the wind and the world rotating. I know some days feel as if that dark cloud will never move, but let me encourage you with this: This too shall pass. As we see in the Scripture, the storm came to an end.
Hang on and remind yourself of this story in the Bible. You will step out of the boat, remain focused on Jesus through the storm, allowing yourself to grow in grace, worshiping your Savior who will never forsake you, and be encouraged with the understanding that it too shall pass. Your storm will end.
At Cambridge University, a lecturer named Mark Ashton Smith was kayaking off the coast of England. The kayak capsized. He clung to his boat and reached for his cell phone that he had in a Ziploc bag to call his dad. The deal, however, is that he’s off the coast of England, and his dad is training British troops in Dubai, 3,500 miles away. Why would he call his dad, who is so far away? Nevertheless, the dad relays his son’s mayday to the Coast Guard in England. In 12 minutes, a helicopter is hovering over the kayak. Let me tell you something: Call your Dad. Call your Father in heaven. It may feel like He’s 3,500 miles away but call Him. He will rescue you. No matter how far you feel from God, He is right there. Call out to Him and let Him do a work in your life.
We are called to be followers of Christ. Did Jesus have an awesome time every day? No, but He remained faithful to God through it all, and He changed the world. You will encounter storms in life. Remain faithful to Christ and take the necessary steps to strengthen your courage in the storm.
