DAY 3 OF 4

My Birthday With Gina On The Riverboat

I can hardly describe how wonderful this day was. I had been seeking to share everyday and nothing seemed natural but on my birthday it was like the Holy Spirit just opened door after door! I went to sleep so joyfully.

A lovely couple joined us for breakfast and they probed about what I do after telling us about what they do. When I tell stories about how God worked when I was a youth pastor, it provides simple illustrations of the grace of God and the gospel of God. It all came so easy and I was just amazed.

While waiting to board the ship the day before we got very acquainted with two sisters. Because I had had several crazy experiences a couple of hours earlier, it was like I was a comedian or something. It was really weird. I was just overflowing with humor and it just wasn't me.

But it built a relationship that proved quite beneficial on my birthday. I came across one of the sisters who is older than me and we had a 45-minute discussion about Jesus. Her sister is a Christian and she recognizes a difference but just didn't think she needed to do anything new in her life to get to heaven. Jesus is just another human to her. She firmly agreed that she would read the Gospel of John.

While at a jazz concert late at night I sat next to a couple intentionally because I had loved hearing their Australian accent earlier in the week.

They shared how they had lost everything but a car when they had three children but now they were millionaires because they had worked so hard. They were overflowing with money and things. They knew I did something with ministry because I encouraged a couple to “minister” in Australia and our friends were there for 10 years in Sydney.

I didn't really get to share, still, I am confident the bright light of the Lord Jesus Christ was shining. The woman said she would really like to hear more about "ministry". She couldn't quite agree with her husband saying that you're either a Muslim or you're a Christian. He said, "All you need to do is be born and get baptized and then you're a Christian."

The difference between an optimist and a pessimist is that the pessimist sees a difficulty in every opportunity, while the optimist recognizes an opportunity in every difficulty. Stuart Briscoe

"Thank you Lord for such a wonderful day."
