Elevation Rhythm: A 7-Day Devotionalنموونە
THIS MOMENT
Cause here, right now I will bring all I have to give.
Cause here, right now You are my only motive.
When we post a picture on IG, we want people to like it. Obviously. That’s why we spend time picking the perfect fit before we even snap the pic. Then, we look for a fire filter and work harder than we ever have in any math class to think of the wittiest caption...all in hopes of getting people to give our post that double tap.
We love the likes, and while being liked isn’t a bad thing, living for the likes can really complicate our lives. The problem comes when we trade our need to be known — truly known — for the temporary satisfaction of being liked.
We are professionals at pretending to have it all together, but God longs for us to come to Him unfiltered. He prefers the side of us that never gets projected from a social platform. Our motive isn’t to get God to like us. He’s already proven His wild love for us on the cross. Our motive is simply to know Him more and as we get to know Him better, we actually find our true selves in Him.
God has given you this life — this moment — as a gift. What you do with your life is your gift to Him. God isn’t waiting on you to grow up so He can use you, so you shouldn’t be waiting for what’s next either. Choose to meet Jesus where you are right now — in this moment — and offer Him what you have today.
There is no better place than worship to surrender our hearts to God’s perfect plan. Worship sets the stage for us to trade our struggle for strength, our hurt for healing, and our frustration for faith. That’s why we sing, “You can have all of me. I won’t forget this moment. You are my everything.”
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Romans 12:1 (MSG)
