What does the Bible say about Easter?
- Jesus prophesied that He would be put to death and then raised back to life.
From then on Jesus began to tell His disciples plainly that it was necessary for Him to go to Jerusalem, and that He would suffer many terrible things at the hands of the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, but on the third day he would be raised from the dead. (Matthew 16:21)
- Jesus was crucified, but on the third day, he rose from the dead.
Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as He said would happen. Come, see where His body was lying.” (Matthew 28:5-6)
- Jesus died for us.
He was handed over to die because of our sins, and He was raised to life to make us right with God. (Romans 4:25)
- All who believe in Jesus will be resurrected to eternal life.
Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.” (John 11:25)
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
Discussion Questions
