GLOBAL CRISIS PRAYERS – Praying for Everyone, Everywhereنموونە
Day 4. Pray for Your Nation.
A most fitting prayer to pray on behalf of the nation is to adapt the Lord’s words in 2 Chronicles 7:14, that His people, who are called by His name, will humble themselves and pray and seek His face and turn from their wicked ways—then may He hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
Pray for the revival of God’s people in the nation, that they will reflect Christ, especially in crisis times, to the people in their communities (again, consider Jesus' words in Matthew 5:16). Ask God to use them to lead others ever one step closer to Him.
As Nehemiah did on behalf of his nation when his homeland was devastated (see Nehemiah 1), confess and repent on behalf of the nation. Ask God’s forgiveness for the nation’s sins of pride, prejudice, insensitivity to the needs and hurts of others, and the like.
Consider how you might pray for leaders as they seek to lead amid crisis times; sometimes their detractors cry out all the more during such times, rather than pulling together and addressing the crisis in a unified manner. Pray for strength, courage, wisdom. List local and national spiritual and political leaders and pray for each. List and pray about additional national challenges.
About this Plan
While we’re called to pray at all times, we especially cry out to God in times of global crises—such as poverty, violence, disease. Yet how do we pray globally? How can we pray for everyone, everywhere? Over the next seven days, you'll find practical ways you can talk to God about people near and far, ensuring that “supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people” (1 Timothy 2:1-2).
