Upset the World نموونە
Day 1
Upsetters Must be Upset First
“Even before he made the world, God loved us” (Ephesians 1:4).
Would you like to upset the world? I assume the reason you’re reading this is because you want to make a difference in people’s lives. Or maybe you’re just wondering why I’m writing about upsetting people.
First, let me explain that my goal isn’t to make people mad. “To upset” actually means “to disturb or derange completely.” Upsetters are people whose lives have been disturbed and deranged completely by the love of Jesus Christ.
That’s how the apostle Paul became an upsetter. You see, before he met Jesus, Paul was a Pharisee who followed all the Jewish religious rules “without fault” (Philippians 3:6), This guy was so hard core that he made it his personal mission to persecute anyone who claimed to be a follower of Christ.
But then Paul met Jesus on the road to Damascus, and his world was flipped upside down. The same guy who had just been arresting Christians couldn’t help but start sharing the good news himself. Acts 9:20 says, “He began preaching about Jesus in the synagogues, saying ‘He is indeed the Son of God!’”
Have you been upset by Jesus’ love? It should upset you to know that the God of the universe sent His only Son to earth to pay the price for your sins. Jesus could have died just for the people who accepted His message while He was on earth, but He didn’t. Jesus died for everyone—you, me, and that neighbor who drives you crazy—because He loves us and wants us to spend eternity with Him (John 3:16).
When I got saved, everything changed. Jesus was no longer just some guy I sang about in church—He was real! I stopped partying and cruising around with my friends. I still had some struggles, but I was a different person. My friends noticed right away, and they stopped hanging out with me. But I was completely fine with it because I was in love with Jesus.
When did you get upset by Jesus? What changed? If you come into a relationship with Jesus Christ but nothing about you changes, then you probably didn’t really meet Him. His love changed my life, and it should change yours too.
Are you ready to be upset? Spend time with God today and let Him overwhelm you with His love.
About this Plan
What makes a person want to have a relationship with God? What makes a believer look and act differently? The answer is simple: they’ve been upset! In this 4-day plan based on his book, Upset the World, Pastor Tim Ross teaches how you can upset the world with the message, love, and hope of Jesus Christ.
