The Secret Power of Grace

DAY 3 OF 6

Real Grace Isn’t Cheap

Okay, God’s grace is amazing. It’s here for you, whenever! It doesn’t depend on your goodness, because it’s flowing from God’s goodness. So … does that mean it’s really not that big of a deal to sin and be unloving, unkind, dishonest, or whatever? Won’t God just forgive you anyway?

Watch this video to help answer some of those questions.

Make more sense? God’s grace isn’t cheap. It cost Him His Son’s life. The price for making a path back to friendship with God was higher than any human ever could have paid. When we choose to accept God’s grace, it should fill our hearts with love and thanks. We live our lives loving God and loving others. It’s the only acceptable response to grace.

You can’t be perfect. No one can. But, then—hyper grace! God’s forgiveness washes you clean! It’s the best thing ever! It is the gift of God’s love to you. And it’s yours if you choose to accept it through Jesus! It’s the gift that should inspire you to become more like Jesus, the one who spent His life to give you this grace. It’s the kind of grace that helps you know you’re loved—so much—and that kind of real love doesn’t want you to stay in a mess of sin. God’s hyper grace is there for you to help move you closer and closer in your friendship with your loving heavenly Father.

Ask yourself: Are there some things I know are wrong but I do them anyway because I don’t think I’ll get caught—or I figure I can be forgiven if I do get caught? In other words, what are some things I do wrong, but I don’t really care that much about stopping? Examples: Telling small lies, staying awake on purpose when you’re supposed to go to sleep, thinking unkind thoughts or saying unkind words about someone, etc.

Challenge yourself: Grab that paper! You know, the one from the last two days. This time, write down your answer to the “Ask yourself” question(s) above. Maybe it’s worrying and not trusting God to work out the details of your life. Maybe it’s arguing with your parents or leaders. Whatever it is, write that thing down. Next to it, write these words: God’s grace isn’t cheap. He forgives this—and will help you defeat this!

Pray: God, thank You for the amazing grace You offer me. It makes me feel unbelievably loved and valued by You. Thank You for seeing Jesus’ perfection instead of my sin when You look at me. Thank You for Your instant forgiveness and grace toward me. I love You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
