Seeking His Presenceنموونە
We were made to be in the presence of God.
Maybe that sentence is unfamiliar to you. Maybe you have never known what it is like to encounter the presence of God, or maybe you feel like you are in the middle of a desert season and have forgotten what it feels like to live in the presence of God. Maybe you are in a season of breakthrough, and you are hungry to encounter the presence of God in a fresh way.
Whatever season of life, or stage of the journey. Whether you have walked with God for many years or have recently started following Christ. God desires that we should live in His presence.
As you start the journey of seeking God's presence, you need to understand that this is what we were created for, and we see that in the Creation story in Genesis.
In Genesis 1:26 - 2:16 we see God create man and place him in the garden. He gives him purpose and direction, but what stands out is the intimacy between God and man. There was nothing that stood in the way of that relationship. God would have been man's greatest desire, and God's desire was to be in relationship with that man. That is what it means to live in God's presence, to cultivate an intimacy with God, with the fruit of that intimacy being that you live knowing God is right there with you.
Why do you have to seek the presence of God? Simply, because Sin now separates us from it.
In Genesis 3:8, after Adam and Eve disobey God's command, their first response is to hide themselves from His presence. Later on, in Genesis 3:23 we see the consequence of Sin was that we were sent out from God's presence. Sin separates us from having a relationship with God. It separates us from His presence.
It is only through Christ that we are restored in a relationship with God. As a believer in Christ, you now have access again to intimacy with God, and the reality of His presence. He wants to be in relationship with us. He wants us to know the reality of His presence in our lives.
As you set apart these next seven days to seek His presence, you will work through dispelling doubts and barriers to living in His presence. You will understand what God says about seeking His presence, and be challenged to set time aside to seek intimacy with Him and encounter the transformational power of His presence in your life.
