Dare To Live

DAY 5 OF 7

Fully dare

The Bible tells us the story of a man who didn’t fully dare to follow through with what God had promised him.

It’s the story of Barak, a man chosen by God to liberate the Jewish people from a Canaanite king who was oppressing Israel.

“One day she sent for Barak son of Abinoam, who lived in Kedesh in the land of Naphtali. She said to him, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, commands you: Call out 10,000 warriors from the tribes of Naphtali and Zebulun at Mount Tabor. And I will call out Sisera, commander of Jabin’s army, along with his chariots and warriors, to the Kishon River. There I will give you victory over him.” Barak told her, “I will go, but only if you go with me.” “Very well,” she replied, “I will go with you. But you will receive no honor in this venture, for the Lord’s victory over Sisera will be at the hands of a woman.” So Deborah went with Barak to Kedesh.” (Judges 4:6-9, NLT)

In the end, the Canaanite king was killed by a woman named Jael. Barak probably had very good reasons for not wanting to fight this war alone. Deborah was known for being a skilled strategist and a prophetess, and Barak knew it.

At certain times in our lives, we’re all like Barak. When what lies ahead seems far too big for us, our reflex is often…

  • To take a step back,
  • To seek a solution within our reach,
  • To declare that we aren’t able,
  • Or even to abandon the plan.

The result: we don’t let God give us everything He had in store for us.

Dare to believe that God is equipping you and won’t leave you alone on the way. He will give you His peace and power to accompany you. He desires to do great things in and through you; your part is to dare to trust Him.

Thanks for existing!
