Day 4: Shine Like A Diamond
I remember being at a family members house sitting at the kitchen table having casual conversation. Suddenly, a bright light caught my eye. It was the diamond ring on my aunties finger. This diamond was shining extremely bright, especially when the sun hit it. One of the things I think about anytime I see someone’s diamonds shining like this is that, the diamonds natural state is to stand out from everything around it. It shines on cloudy days and shines even brighter on sunny days. Regardless of the environment, the diamond always shines bright. One of the other unique features about diamonds are how strong they are. In fact, diamonds are considered to be one of the strongest materials on earth. Metaphorically speaking, our faith should be strong as diamonds, and our light of Christ should shine bright like them. Matthew 5:14-16 says, “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. 15, Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16, Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” See, we are created to stand out like diamonds, and be a light in darkness. We are called to be confident and strong like diamonds in the faith, and never be ashamed to let our light shine in a house full of darkness.
To take it a step further, God has given us the power to endure tribulations and overcome the voice of negative people. In other words, we have been designed to be as tough as diamonds in the midst of our enemies. We have been designed to unapologetically do good works unto the Lord so that people will see, and God will get the glory. As the diamond caught my eye in that kitchen, we are designed to walk into a pitch-black room, shine bright, and give people hope in the Hope that saved us. We have the toughness of diamonds, because we are designed to withstand those who celebrate when we struggle and laugh at us when we stumble. We are made to be strong in faith and shine bright in a dark world. Always remember, we are unique diamonds in Christ that cannot be broken, and our light will forever shine bright.
