DAY 6 OF 7

Day 6

Expand Your Community

Here are a few ideas to jump-start broader thinking about how to keep expanding your community of Yes Sisters:

1. Read widely about topics that stir your mind, heart, and vision—women in ministry, military service, teaching, volunteering, foster-care parenting. You’re sure to find ways to reach out and help. Research and familiarize yourself with the greatest needs in undeveloped or war-torn countries and relief organizations already in place in those areas. Tapping into sources already in action is a great way to connect and discover your niche. Maybe you’re the best fit to help the ones in need. Or maybe your specialty is serving those who serve.

2. Listen to meaningful podcasts that inspire women to live purposefully. Feeding yourself motivational, life-giving words helps keep you looking up and out at what’s going on in the world. It prevents you from settling into too small of a world.

3. Sample a webinar. These offer comfortable, cost-effective ways to broaden your mind about topics that interest you. Some of them may also provide interaction between participants. Every connection can prove to be valuable.

4. Consider yourself a lifelong learner. Learning is a passion that develops compassion and empathy, inspires a heart to reach out, and prevents stagnation. The world provides an endless supply of discoveries. Yes Sisters keep learning!

5. Write to women you admire and tell them how they’ve encouraged you. This goes for Yes Sisters who’ve invested in you, as well as women you don’t even know who have stood out to you.

A face-to-face relationship may be ideal, but the influence of sisters we’ll never meet in person can impact us in refreshing ways. You can be that influential sister for someone else too. The feeling that there’s more to life than what you’re experiencing isn’t a coincidence. God has a great purpose for you and may be telling you that women are waiting to meet you, to hear your yes to them. Grab on and go with it, and prepare yourself for sweet relationships to come.

How might an attitude of learning and being teachable relate to meeting—or becoming—a Yes Sister?
