7 Days of Experiencing God’s Infinite Grace

DAY 4 OF 7

Cup of courage

You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.
Psalm 23:5

Psalm 23 is a rich, multisensory depiction of a confident, courageous David, not at all threatened or insecure in his enemies’ presence. He’s brave and assertive because his cup is brimming with satisfaction in God’s providence, provision and protection. He’s got nothing to fear, because he has found ultimate fulfillment and assurance in his Heavenly King.

What’s filling your cup? What are you relying on to keep you spiritually or emotionally energized and engaged? The truth is, God fills your cup so you can fill others. You get to do His work, His way, in His strength and for His glory. Let the thrill of that privilege keep you drinking deeply at the source of every blessing.

Food for Thought: Java junkie or brilliant barista?

Coffee has a long history of being blamed for many ills, but the truth is it’s a potent source of antioxidants, the vital compounds that prevent cell damage. Antioxidants help maintain the health of your liver, heart, immune system and blood vessels. Coffee’s also good for your brain: improving attention, reaction time and reasoning. If you’re healthy, you can drink up to six cups a day. Of course, if you feel stressed, can’t sleep or get tremors, cut back on the caffeine! And don’t forget, it’s the coffee that’s good for you, not the sugar you add!
