Book of 2 Samuel

DAY 4 OF 6

GOD WHO PRESERVES US

The kingdom of Israel was in an emergency state in 2 Samuel 15. The kingdom was divided into two, with part of its people inclined to Absalom and the other half still fathful to David, the anointed King of the Lord. Absalom’s rebellion caused David to feel insecure. David was worried because he heard rumours that Absalom tried to divide the kingdom. Because he worried, David decided to bring his people out from Jerusalem.

Absalom could try his best to build up the kingdom with his strategy, but the legitimate government, chosen by God, was David’s throne. In this chaotic situation, God still protected David’s life and throne because David faithfully sought the Lord at all times. God protected and looked after the throne of the king He anointed.

Even though David was in a very difficult and tragic situation, God never stopped sustaining him. God also never stops sustaining us during any crisis we may be experiencing. We may have faced people who didn’t support us and set out to drop our reputation and our spirit. However, in that situation, we still put our hope in God. Just like David, whom God protected by stirring foreign nations to help him, God will also help us with his unexpected ways. The important thing we have to do is to surrender our life to God, and He will sustain us.

God’s plan is always beautiful. Therefore, allow Him to do it His way and in His time.
