Godly Sorrow Worketh Repentance

DAY 3 OF 3

He Carried Our Sorrow.

“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.” Isaiah‬ ‭53:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There is no sorrow in Christ. Christ is not the Author of sorrow. Isaiah‬ ‭53:4‬ ‭AMPC‬‬ declares, “Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy].“

Christ carried our pain. Christ carried our shame. In fact, according to Strong’s Concordance, the Hebrew word for, “Borne” is, ‘nasa’ (H5375) which means, “To lift, bear up, carry, take, to lift up, to carry, support, sustain, endure, to take, take away, carry off, forgive, to be carried off, be swept away.” Christ swept away your grief. He has carried away sickness, weakness, and every distress.

In Him, there is fullness of Joy. In Him, there is Peace. In Him, there is no sorrow. Surrender to God and be made whole. There is wholeness in Him. “Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!” Isaiah‬ ‭53:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

About this Plan

Godly Sorrow Worketh Repentance

Vance K. Jackson leads readers in this wisdom-packed devotional. God does not inflict pain. Nor does God inflict sorrow. In fact, God has carried our sorrow away through the shed Blood of His Son — Jesus Christ. Godly sorrow worketh repentance. When a father corrects, out of love, it is to set his children — both natural and spiritual, on the right course. Let God’s Word lead your heart.
