Living in the Newنموونە
Our Attitude towards the Word of God.
There’s one thing that stood out to me so significantly during my time in college that it would go on to shape me for the rest of my life.
One afternoon after lunch, I forced myself to go to class just to hit the attendance target for that subject. My lecturer briskly walked into the class and right away started talking about different types of audiences: “active” and “passive”. He explained how an active audience is not only willing to consume the information they heard, but also interact with it and give it thought, ultimately forming meaning. On the flip side, a passive audience will only consume. No thought, no interaction, just blind consumption. What he would say next still burns my heart today. He said that the best example of a passive audience is a Church.
My world stood still. As I processed what he had said, I realised that as much as I hated this statement, it was true. I was angry and offended, but I had to be real; the truth is that the church has become passive.
Today’s Church has attendants but not participants, simply going to church as a habit on a Sunday. Rarely thinking about scriptures and rarely reading the Bible, which is the foundation of our identity. Sadly, we have become passive.
These thoughts that were sown into my life that afternoon have never left me. In fact, lingering, they have become stronger than ever before. They took root and grew within me–grew into a desire that all of us who call ourselves believers would be active.
We can no longer be passive, hearing the Word through one ear and letting it escape through the other.
Let us be active consumers of the Word, meditating on it day and night, and thus become transformed by the Word. Through the Word, we are able to cast down every stronghold that raises itself against us and actively possess the finished work of Jesus Christ.
Throughout this Bible plan, I invite you to see through a lens of active-ness.
I invite you to be thinkers. Meditate, and through your meditation, squeeze the wisdom out of this very simple plan.
Let all of us who call ourselves believers be WISE and filled with UNDERSTANDING, REASON and the REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST.
Amen.

About this Plan
Until we go to our eternal destiny, we live our lives here on this earth, the other side of heaven. In this Bible plan, Sarat Yellasiri describes the power that Christ has left with us to live this life to the fullest. But unfortunately, we aren't aware of how to do this. Embark on a journey to see a fuller picture to greatly understand the things of God.
