Love God Greatly: Draw Near

DAY 17 OF 40

I often pray for life to go my way, that God would fulfill my dreams and the things that I have planned. It is not wrong to have hopes and dreams and even to pray for them. While we see from a limited earthly perspective, God’s view is all encompassing, clear and eternal. He is a good God, working for our good and His purposes. We can rely on Him, because His word is dependable.

Israel was an agricultural society, completely dependent on rain for their sustenance. Isaiah’s use of both rain and snow tell us of the totality of His blessing. God says that it is He that gives them rain and crops to sustains their lives. If God is faithful in giving them physical life and sustaining it, how much more can He give them spiritual life and growth. God has promised compassion and forgiveness for those who seek Him, so we can count on the fact that if we seek Him, He will respond!

Gracious Father, thank You that Your Word is dependable. Not only are You the one who gives and sustains physical and spiritually life, but You are completely reliable and trustworthy. Thank You for Your words of life. Amen.
