The Flesh Is Enmity Against God.
“Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” Romans 8:7 KJV
1 John 4:8 KJV declares, “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” God is Love. Romans 8:7 NLT declares, “For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will.” The flesh wars against Love. The carnal mind wants to self-preserve and defend itself against its enemies. The flesh wants to get vengeance. The flesh battles against God’s Word. Choose to Love. Choose to let Love lead your actions. Let Love lead your thoughts. Let Love lead every area of your life.
“[That is] because the mind of the flesh [with its carnal thoughts and purposes] is hostile to God, for it does not submit itself to God's Law; indeed it cannot.” Romans 8:7 AMPC. The flesh is hostile to God. The flesh will not submit to God’s Way of doing things. Choose to do things God’s Way. Surrender to Him.
Romans 8:12-14 NLT declares, “Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” As His Children — we choose to Love. Lay aside the sinful lusts of the flesh.
“That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.” Romans 8:8-10 NLT
Action:
Choose to Forgive. Forgive daily. Forgive those who have spitefully used you. Love those who have wronged you. Love those who have laid traps for you.
Love is more powerful than the snares and traps that your enemies set. Choose to Love.
