Today's Workplace Plagues, Part I
A common plague on our workplaces is drug and alcohol addictions. According to the Foundation for a Drug Free World, 15 million people are addicted to prescription drugs in the United States!
According to the Center for Disease Prevention and Control, drug overdose death rates have tripled since 1990. The majority of these relate to prescription drugs.
This is devastating the workplace because it increases health insurance costs, employee absence, and decreases productivity, but more importantly, it is ruining lives.
In Matthew 9:36, we read about Jesus, “Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.”
If you suspect you have team members struggling with an addiction, pray for wisdom and discernment, then when possible lead them towards a Christ-centered recovery program.
