Is Building Wealth Biblical? Part II
A philosophy beginning in the first century claimed that poverty is good for all. Material possessions are to be considered bad.
Although some leaders are called to poverty, we cannot assume that to be true for all. Material possessions are not the problem. The motivations we have for acquiring possessions can be.
Proverbs 30:8 says, “Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is my portion, that I not be full and deny You and say, “Who is the Lord?” Or that I not be in want and steal, and profane the name of my God.”
The heart of this verse, and hopefully our lives, is to please God as our primary motivation, not wealth.
