The Unconditional Love of the Father
You saw my condition
Had a plan from the start
Your Son for redemption
The price for my heart
I don’t have a context
For that kind of love
I don’t understand
I can’t comprehend
All I know is I need You
One of the things that continually amazes me about God is His love for us. John 3:16 says…
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16, ESV
Isn’t that incredible? I can’t imagine sacrificing either of my sons for anyone. Let alone people who would see the sacrifice and ignore it. But God did. He saw the sin, the sickness, the brokenness of the people He created and, knowing some would reject Him, still gave us His Son to save us and set us free.
That’s how much God loves us. That’s how much God loves you.
There’s a lyric in verse two of Run to the Father that says, “I don’t have a context for that kind of love.” The context is the realization that I know I couldn’t love someone like that. I couldn’t sacrifice my son. Yet that’s how good God is. That’s how much He desires for you to experience relationship with Him as your Father.
The scriptures below further describe His amazing love…
We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death… Romans 5:7-8, MSG
This is love: He loved us long before we loved him. It was his love, not ours. He proved it by sending his Son to be the pleasing sacrificial offering to take away our sins. 1 John 4:10, TPT
Whether good or bad, our earthly fathers are only a vague representation of just how good our Heavenly Father is. And it’s my prayer you would run to Him today and experience His love for you in a new, fresh, and life-changing way.
