Steadfast Love

DAY 4 OF 5

Seek

I am a mother of two amazing kids and one of my favorite things is hearing their sweet laughter, especially after a long stressful week. Every once in awhile we like to create family scavenger hunts where we hide clues all around the house and draw a map to get them started. At the end of the hunt is usually a little treat or a prized piece of paper telling them where we are going to celebrate! It is so much fun to sit back and watch them figure out where each clue is leading to the next. They bounce around in sweet anticipation and even when it is hard, they don’t give up, eventually working their way to the prize. I must confess that, like most of us, they often need a little loving guidance along the way.

Prayer is our chance to have fun in searching with anticipation all the many ways God is moving. Colossians 4:2 (ESV) tells us, “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.” When we are full of faith and assurance, we can start seeking where God is at work. Signs and wonders are all around us and, like a child’s scavenger hunt, we can have fun in the process. The more we seek, the more we find we become thirsty for God.

A shift from being thirsty for answers to being thirsty for The Lord will happen if we keep knocking on the door. The things we thought we needed have less of a hold on us, and new desires and dreams start to take shape within us. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

About this Plan

Steadfast Love

I have been in that season of waiting many times in my life, and it’s not easy. There is a space between asking and receiving that God calls us to periodically. In a world that tells us we should be striving to find the answers, scripture tells us a different story. Join me as we learn to rest in the waiting.
