Anxiety Not!

DAY 4 OF 5

What Kind of Fruit Are You Known For?

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit” (Jeremiah 17:7-8).

How many things during the day do you put your trust in? Do you trust your car to get you to work? Do you trust your chair to support you when you sit down? We put our trust in all kinds of things we can see in the natural. But trusting in something unseen takes faith.

The disciple Thomas said, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it" (John 20:25). Shortly thereafter, Thomas did see the Lord and Jesus encouraged him to touch His nail-scarred hands. Once Thomas did, he said, "My Lord and my God!" (John 20:28) Jesus responded, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed" (John 20:29).

So what about you; do you trust in the Lord even though you have not seen Him in the natural? The evidence is everywhere that Jesus is the Messiah- the Son of God. Solomon tells us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6). If you want to be the person God has called you to be, you have to give Him your whole heart; and to do that you must have faith that He is who He says He is.

Today, Thomas is forever labeled Doubting Thomas. So what will your legacy be? Will you dare to trust the Lord with all your heart? If you will trust Him completely, you will not have to fear a spiritual drought because you are connected to the ultimate life source!

Jesus said, “Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him" (John 7:38). “Therefore by their fruits you will know them” (Matthew 7:20). The living water flowing from within you will never cease yielding good fruit.

Prayer: Lord, I pray I represent You well by producing good fruit. May others see that in me and taste and see that You are good. I would rather be known for over-believing Your word than for under-believing it. May I never doubt You or Your word. In Jesus name, amen.
