[Bible Trek: Luke] We Can Have Faith In Jesusنموونە
Messiah—The Savior Promised by God
What does the word “Messiah” mean? Messiah is the Savior promised by God to the Jews: the Christ. Let’s read this devotional to understand a little bit more about Him.
Read the Bible
Remember the story on Day 1 about old Zechariah and Elizabeth who had a baby boy? He grew up and was known as John the Baptist. He was a prophet and told people about God to prepare them for God's work in the world. The way John the Baptist lived sounds strange to us, but he was an important man in God’s plan to tell the world about Jesus. He even got to baptize Jesus in the Jordan River!
Think about it
John the Baptist told many people that Jesus was coming. There were even those who thought that John was the Messiah come to save them! But John was careful to point people to Jesus, and so did the Holy Spirit. “And the Holy Spirit came down upon him [Jesus] in the form of a Dove. A voice from heaven said, ‘You are my own dear Son, and I am pleased with you.’” (Luke 3:22) You’re important to God’s plan, too. Who do you know who needs to hear what you have learned? You can tell people about Jesus.
Do something about it
Think about the names of two people you know that need to hear about Jesus. Make a plan to tell them about him!
Talk to God
“God, help me to be brave to tell other people about Jesus.”
Scripture
About this Plan
Welcome to an exciting trek through Luke! For the next seven days, we’ll walk alongside a follower of Jesus named Luke. He wrote this book so that people would know what happened when Jesus was on earth. Luke also wrote the book of Acts in the Bible. We hope you enjoy this Bible adventure and learn to love and follow Jesus just like Luke!
