Listening To The Word - 1 Year

DAY 64 OF 365

Fruit is the Focus

Mark 12:1-2
“…A man planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a pit for a winepress and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and went away on a journey. At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants to collect from them some of the fruit of the vineyard.”

God is interested in fruit from our lives, from his Church and from the mission of the Church. Vineyards are for producing fruit, not just status, employment opportunities, good environments or a safe place to rest. It’s all about the fruit. Jesus gave his disciples clarity about the process of producing fruit including the need for pruning, abiding, loving and obeying (John 15). Our investment in fruit-bearing as an important outcome of not just our ministry, but our life, is the focus of the Holy Spirit. We bear the fruit of the Spirit. The key to “much fruit” is much surrender, yielding, abiding and cooperating with the Spirit of God.

Lord Jesus, you deserve all the glory for any fruit in my life. Fill me with your Spirit again this day for greater fruitfulness.
