Not Talk, but Power
1 Corinthians 4:20
“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.”
1 Corinthians 5:4
“When you are assembled in the name of our Lord Jesus…and the power of our Lord Jesus is present…”
When the kingdom of God is reduced to talk, the most eloquent “talkers” shape the church and its direction. However, when the Church relies on the power of the Lord Jesus, we find that it is in surrender in weakness and in crying out to the Lord that we discover the power of Jesus. We become less and Jesus becomes greater when we rely on his power. There are times when the Church gathers and the power of the Lord Jesus is not present, when the wisdom and strength and gifts of men are honored more than the presence of Jesus and when talk is substituted for the power and presence of the Lord Jesus. We are impoverished spiritually. As we humble ourselves before the Lord, let us talk less and seek the face of Jesus more for his refreshing, transforming life, presence and power.
Lord Jesus, I need your power to love, to listen, to live for you today, for your glory.
