Listening To The Word - 1 Year

DAY 3 OF 365

The Times of Noah

Genesis 6:3, 5-6
“…‘My Spirit will not contend with man forever…’…The Lord saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The Lord was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain.”

Why did God bring judgment on the whole earth in the time of the flood?

God saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and he was grieved. Jesus said that in the last days, when he returns to take home his bride, the Church, it will once again be like the times of Noah, - times when wickedness is treated casually, - when our ‘heroes’ are ‘half creatures’ (Genesis 6:4), and when the depth of our wickedness fills God’s heart with pain. In the times of Noah, God responded with a flood; in the last days God will respond with global judgments (Revelation 8, 9, 16), and once again call his creation to repentance. We still live in an age of grace where God’s kindness leads us to repentance.

How will we respond to God’s conviction of sin in our generation?

Father God, I repent for treating sin casually so that your heart is grieved. Have your way and will in my life. I pray for the courage of Noah to stand for righteousness in this generation, regardless of the cost.
