The Full Message
Malachi 3:1
“Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come…”
Acts 5:20
“‘Go, stand in the temple courts,’ he said, ‘and tell the people the full message of this new life.’”
Jesus came to bring a new covenant between God and people - a covenant sealed with his own blood. There are always two sides to a covenant. God promises forgiveness of sins, the Holy Spirit and eternal life with him; we offer repentance (not just remorse), the keeping of God’s Word (ways) and full surrender of our will (obedience) to serve God - all of us, for all of God’s life in us. This full message of new life and covenant is easily misrepresented today, and marketed as a few easy steps to peace with God. Without the deep conviction of sin, the fear of the Lord, we experience only half a covenant and lack the abundant life Christ promised.
Jesus, thank you for new life in you. I offer you my life again today for your glory, and the surrender of my will to yours.
