The Bible

Description: 

The Bible is an atypical book. In one sense, it is an ancient library written over 1,300 years by 40 different authors, in multiple geographic contexts, and in three languages (Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic). But for God’s family, the Bible is not just an ancient library. It is also God’s revelation to his family––our spiritual ancestry passed down to us from our mothers and fathers in the faith over generations. The Bible is also not simply the record of God’s revelation but also the means by which he reveals himself to his family.

Each day as you engage the Scripture, we recommend following this pattern of devotional reading.

Discussion & Reflection: Paul was famous for his willingness to endure persecution for the cause of Christ. This fact is decisively evident in his letters to Timothy. Paul’s writings point to the inherent truth that persecution is imminent in following Jesus. Have you experienced hardship following your decision to pledge your loyalty to Jesus? How has this affected your faith?
