Like Your Life Depends On It
John 10:10 says “the thief has come to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come that they may have life and life more abundantly.” God’s desire isn’t for us just to have a decent life here on earth until we get to our eternal life in heaven. He wants our lives on earth to be full, vibrant, overflowing! It is possible to have a saved soul and wasted life, but that isn’t God’s desire. Here are four parts of your life you should guard diligently so that you can have a life full to the brim.
Your Prayers
Prayer is the way our hearts commune with heaven. Therefore, God commands us to pray without ceasing. This doesn’t mean your prayers are constantly occurring, it means constantly recurring. Throughout the day, throughout the week, you should be bringing God into your situation. Praying without ceasing gives you power for clean living.
Your People
Peter says in verse 8, “Above all, love each other deeply. Love covers a multitude of sins.” Love others, offer hospitality, let people in, and then don’t judge them when you see their flaws. As we walk closely with other Jesus followers, we’ll see mess, we’ll see sins, but within the church we find similar ground above all of our differences.
Your Part
We can’t do everything, but we can do something. Every single person has been given a spiritual gift. Don’t believe the lie that you have nothing to offer the Kingdom of God. It’s not about how you feel, it’s whether you are faithful. There are many different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the common thread in all is that they are to be used to serve others and glorify God.
Your Pain
The easiest thing to do in times of pain is to doubt God’s sovereignty, but the reality is that God does some of His best work in the deepest valleys. So when life gets difficult, don’t think that God isn’t on the job! Sometimes the only way to the revelation is through the tribulation. Glory is just around the corner!
