Considering Missions?

DAY 3 OF 6

There Is No Salvation Outside of Christ

According to the World Health Organization (www.who.int), in 2017 there were an estimated 219 million cases of malaria in 87 countries. It is estimated that in that same year, 435,000 people died of malaria. While there are many ways that we can currently improve the probability of survival, there is presently no vaccine available.

Imagine now that you work in a medical laboratory and discover a way to wipe malaria off of the planet. The vast majority of those infected with malaria (92%) live in Africa. What would your responsibility be to those people? What excuse could you give for keeping it to yourself?

In reality, there is a problem that is so much worse than malaria. Everyone in the world (100%) is currently infected. And it is estimated that 90% of people who live within the 10/40 window have never even heard of the cure. Of course, I am referring to the problem of sin. The cure for this problem has already been found through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Jesus offers true salvation and this solution is exclusive. Jesus is the only way. We are told in Romans 10 that only those who call upon the Lord will be saved. But to call upon him, they must believe. And to believe in him, they must hear. And to hear there needs to be a preacher. What is your responsibility now that you know the truth of the Gospel?

Praise the Lord for…

· his kindness in offering his own son as a solution to the world’s biggest problem.

· the fact that we get to be a part of seeing the cure spread all over the world. God could have used angels, or birds, or trees, but he didn’t. He chose to use us!

Pray that…

· you would understand the seriousness of sin in your own life and in the lives of those around you.

· you would treasure the cure and truly believe that Jesus is the only way to be saved.

· the love of Christ would compel you to spread the cure as far as you are able.

About this Plan

Considering Missions?

When thinking about missions, questions that flood our minds include: “Do I have what it takes?” “Am I qualified?” “Am I called?”. While thinking ahead is good, it is important to meditate on the Word of God day and night, as we ask these questions. This devotional is a 6-day exploration for those asking the question, “Should I go into cross-cultural missions?”.
