Success Secrets From The Bible

DAY 4 OF 7

Mind Your Own Business

Minding your own business simply means that you look at your life as a business. You don’t look at yourself as a worker or an employee, but as someone offering services for which you get paid. You see your employer as your client.

It is difficult for most people to realize that even if they work for someone in a company, or for the government, they are in business. If people could change the way they looked at themselves and their employers, their whole outlook on their job would change. Their job would not become an end in itself, but a means to an end.

Looking at ourselves as business people helps us to look at what we do from a totally different perspective. Don’t just look at a job. If you are an employee of that job, see it as a vehicle you use to service your client. Your client is your employer. Your service to your employer allows you to earn the money you use to create a life you want. Your employer becomes a client, not a boss running your life. He or she becomes a means to an end, for which we are so thankful because they allow us to earn money to create the life that we want.

We need to get this very clear in our minds that even if we work for someone, we are in business. We run a company called “Me Inc.” and we are the CEO offering services to our employer. If we offer shoddy services to our employer, our employer will not give us more business. This is when he or she terminates the relationship. We call this getting fired, but in actual fact, it is not. This simply means that our client is not happy with our services.

Therefore, secret number three is for us to mind our own business. Even if we work for someone or in an organization, we are still in business.

Prayer

Dear God,

Help me keep my eyes focused on my business. Help me to cut out all distractions.

In Jesus' name.
