Endless Blessings
Through the blood of Jesus, our God has saved us! And through Jesus He daily loads us with benefits. There are seasons, however, when we find it difficult to count our blessings. David knew this firsthand. But instead of letting himself slide into the despair of depression, he listed God’s benefits.
We, too, are told in difficult times to look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), the one in whom we have endless blessings (Ephesians 1:3).
David did not know Jesus’s name or how God would fulfill His promise of a redeemer, but by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, he wrote of blessings that we now see embodied in Christ. Therefore, like David, we can walk in the divine instructions of Psalm 68 and
· be glad and in good spirits (verse 3)
· rejoice in the Lord’s presence (verses 3-4)
· sing to God (verses 4 and 32)
· proclaim His Word and His power (verses 11 and 34)
· praise God in His congregation (verse 26)
We find a similar list in the New Testament in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. Both the psalmist and the apostle Paul teach us how to triumph in tough times (for indeed these men knew tough times). Despite the challenges of today, take time to be thankful, to count the blessings you have in Jesus, to praise Jesus’s name—for He is worthy.
Make a list—on paper, on your phone, on a napkin—of the benefits God is “loading” on you today.

About this Plan
We often think of Jesus as only appearing in the New Testament, but Jesus is the very essence of all the Scriptures. The Old Testament points to Him, and the New Testament reveals Him. This week’s devotional takes us to five passages of Scripture that gives us a glimpse of how Jesus, our beloved hope, is the focal point of the Bible from beginning to end.
