Reflect: Shining the Light
Did you ever get amazing news and just felt like you were going to burst to tell someone? You made varsity. You were accepted to your first choice college. You aced the final exam. It almost feels like you can’t keep it in. Your smile is huge. You might even have a bounce in your step. You just have to tell someone and when you finally do it doesn’t just creep out of you, it explodes!
Did we not just find out we have better news than any of this? We have the light of God in us! This news is so much better than any team, grade, or school we make it into.
We call Matthew 28:19 “The Great Commission” where Jesus tells His disciples to go and make disciples of all nations. The disciples were the first light keepers for Christ. The disciples were run out of town, arrested, and hated for the Gospel they told. But they still took care, and made sure the light continued to shine into the dark world.
We live in a dark world still to this day. The job of light keeper hasn’t gotten easier. Friends may tease you and it might be difficult to share this light. But that doesn’t make your job any different. We are still called as followers of Christ to be light keepers and to help shine the glorious light of Christ in the dark world we live in.
Matthew 5:16 NIV “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
