"Sexodus" Relationships Devotionalنموونە
No Joke
When we read this passage, it's easy for us to think, "Well I'm definitely not going to sleep with a prostitute so this verse has nothing to do with me." However, the principle that the people we sleep with make us one flesh with them applies to really anyone. Sleeping around, as it's portrayed in the movies as casual, fun, and exciting, is certainly not accurate. The truth is that it's filled with heartache, insecurity, a chance of contracting disease, and more frustration than happiness. That's because, as this passage says, we were never meant to treat sex that way. When we sleep with someone, we become one with them. You don't have to be great at math to realize that being 'one' with multiple people is going to leave everyone with only a piece of you.
If you're wondering if you're ready to get married, ask yourself if you really understand this idea and the gravity that comes with sex and having a committed relationship with someone that you'll become 'one' with.
