While You Wait

DAY 4 OF 7

In today’s reading we see Elijah thrown into an unlikely training ground: the widow’s house

The widow’s son had stopped breathing and his frantic mother brings him to Elijah. The prophet carries him to the upper room and pleads with God three times for the boy to live.

The situation is beyond any human help or intervention. There is no one but God who can bring life.

But in that room, while no one was watching, Elijah learns to exercise his faith. Elijah experiences an “Only God” moment.

Elijah was still living in obscurity. God’s grand plan for him had not yet been fully unveiled. But in that waiting room, Elijah allowed himself to be shaped by God. That waiting room morphed into a training turf. Elijah learned to trust God completely.

In the waiting, are we allowing God to prepare us? Are we allowing God to use this season to build our faith, to grow our trust and to shape our character?

Let’s trust in the Lord and lean not on our own understanding (Proverbs 3: 5). His ways are far higher than ours.

About this Plan

While You Wait

While we anxiously linger in life’s waiting rooms, we tend to think to ourselves, “This is not what I signed up for.” Our dreams seem to be stuck in a hopeless rut. We long for breakthroughs. In this Bible Plan, we’ll ask: “What is the purpose of our waiting?” We’ll walk in the prophet Elijah’s shoes to discover what God can do in us and through us while we wait.
